New Kitchen!

Read this post backwards!
After:

Before: This is the best I could find. This was a wall with a big china cabinet in it. We took out the wall and put in an archway, opening it to the dining room/living room.

There is a reason that I have been MIA for a few months. We have been very busy with a kitchen remodel. When I say we, I mostly mean Tyler. This reno began back in May and I can finally see the end. My brother redid the electrical-such a relief to have that done and feel like I have a safe house. Thanks Laramie, I owe you. My brother in law redid some of the plumbing. Thanks Roger! And my amazingly talented husband did the rest, all while still working 12-14 hour days, 6 days a week. Thanks Tyler for putting up with my nagging and for creating a perfect kitchen, you are the best! So it is not quite finished, I don't have a oven and a window is missing moulding and I want to cover the ugly pine by the door with beadboard, but I am finally ready to show it off. So with much blood sweat and tears (the tears being one of my only contributions) here is my beautiful kitchen. Please excuse the messy kitchen in the pictures, it is extremely clean in comparison to what it has looked like in the past. More pictures to come when painting, backsplash and everything else is finished!

Its a......

....Girl! I new it all along! I think I have a gift. There was no doubt in my mind that Aiden was going to be a boy. In fact, I had made his nursery bedding blue and brown when I was just a couple months pregnant because I was so sure. This pregnancy has been so different that I was certain it was a girl, although I was kind of hoping it would be a boy for Aiden. We really couldn't be happier with the news. I am so excited to start making girly stuff and go shopping for clothes (boys clothes are not exciting). Meanwhile Tyler is sweating it, thinking that he may have to take on another job to support me and my girl......Good thing I am the tight wad in the relationship!

Labor Day Plans

I don't know what you all have planned for your Labor Day, but this year we are taking the holiday quite literally. What? Are you in shock? Don't worry you will get over it, I finally did. Although this is a little unexpected, we are super excited and are eagerly awaiting baby #2 on September 4!

Birthday, Snow Canyon and LOVEly Food

I don't know what is wrong with me. I thought that once I was done with school I would be able to get so much done and I would blog regularly. I kept on telling myself that I had nothing to blog about but I realized I have missed so much. First of all Aiden's birthday was at the end of the year. I don't know why I never shared these pictures but it was definitely memorable. We spent it in Wyoming with the Emmetts. They have a tradition of getting your own cake on your first birthday. I wasn't sure how Aiden would react to this. I think the pictures speak for themselves.

This past weekend we went to Snow Canyon with my family. It was so nice. We have had so much snow lately and it has just been cold and muddy. It is so nice to drive 30 minutes and be able to take off your jacket and shoes and rub your feet in the sand.

I had this great plan for Valentines week. I was going to make festive meals each night. The first couple of nights it was fun, but then I started running out of ideas and some food takes a long time to try to shape into hearts. Needless to say, by the time it was Valentines Day, I had lost my excitement for the holiday and we just had regular food. Some of my creations: heart shaped scones, heart shaped pizza and spaghetti and heart shaped meatballs. I realize that some of you are really good cooks and are just laughing hysterically at my ideas and presentation of the meal, but I guess this is to make you all feel better about your own cooking. I was very impressed with myself.

Catching up

I know, I know.....I have heard it from a lot of you. I have been at the bottom of your blog list for quite some time now! Life has been busy and blogging has been the last thing on my mind. Here are some cute pictures that I put together for a few other projects I was doing. Just want to show off how darling my son is!
Aiden's favorite thing to do--EAT! It is a miracle that this kid is not 100 lbs.
Mommy's lil' helper! Kids are great! I guess I'll have a few more and train them to do the dishes and clean the bathrooms: )

A few of my favorite pictures that I wanted to share with everyone!

Merry Christmas!

Due to the fact that I am too lazy and cheap to send everyone I know a letter and pictures, those of you who are on my blog list will be recieving your letter through this blog. I am sorry, but as you can tell, I am a huge procrastinator and am quickly running out of time. At least you will get yours before Christmas! I know this would have been much better had I enlisted my wonderful husbands help...he is the witty one, but once again...I am working against the clock!

Dear Family and Friends,
Merry Christmas and Happy New Year! I apologize that many of you may not receive this letter until after Christmas but it has been a crazy month which is just in keeping with the busy year we have had. Last year at this time, we were waiting around hoping to have a baby on any day but Christmas. Aiden arrived kicking and screaming on the 29th of December. He is such a happy boy with an easy smile. He loves balls and girls and will smile and talk to any woman who walks by. He is just starting to take his first steps. He has been such a blessing in our lives. We can’t remember what life was like without him.
I took the spring semester off and tried my best to learn how to be a mom and wife at the same time. Tyler continued going to school at Utah State and working. We were expecting Tyler to graduate that semester, but we found out he lacked one class. So he took an online class this past fall and is now graduated!
At the beginning of summer, we got word that my dad’s boss was considering building a 5,000 cow dairy. My dad put in a good word for Tyler and after a few telephone calls we jumped in the car and moved to my hometown, Enterprise! Tyler has been working his brains out, but he is doing what he loves and that makes us all happy. They have about 2,000 cows now and they hope to be milking in a few months.
We had no place to live, so my parents let us live with them for a few months. In August we found a house we loved and could afford so we put in an offer and they accepted. It was a long and frustrating process that I don’t look forward to doing again, but on October 16th we became home owners! It is an old house built in 1920, but it has so much potential. We are so excited to put a little elbow grease into it and make it ours!
Unfortunately we have had no spare time at all and the house has just stayed exactly the same. Tyler has been crazy-busy with the cows, and I started student teaching this past fall. I love teaching, but I am definitely glad to be done. I have a deep respect for the working mom and have decided that I am not tough enough to do it. Luckily I found a great baby sitter who Aiden loved which made it a little easier. But I am happy to report, after months of lesson planning and portfolio creating, I am graduated!
While I wish I could report that the craziness stopped there….it didn’t. There was one thing left to do on the list: Aiden’s surgery. I really just wanted to get it over with, so I kept the doctor and appointment in Logan. A few days after we had both finished with school, we took off to Logan. We really had no idea what to expect, but luckily it turned out to be an extremely minor case and the doctor had to do very little at all. After about a day, Aiden was back to our happy, smiley boy.
It has been a wonderful year. We are so blessed to have such great family and friends. We love you all and wish you a memorable 2010.
Lots of Love,
The Emmetts
Tyler, Kaydee and Aiden

Baby on the Move

Aiden has found a new friend at Grandma's house. Aiden scoots over to that boy in the mirror and hollers at him until that boy ends up bonking heads with my boy. Aiden always looks at that boy with tear filled eyes like "What was that for!?! I thought we were having fun!"

Check out those Chipmunk Cheeks! Definitely Daddy's Boy! Aiden even fills those enormous cheeks full of food, just like his dad. I thought I could break Tyler of that habit so he wouldn't teach it to our children.....I either have an extra observant, brillant child or this odd trait is hereditary.

My baby is growing up so fast! He is super anxious to get around. My world is beginning to turn upside down. He hasn't quite learned how to crawl on hands and knees, but he is mastering the army crawl. Uncle Randan is going to be so proud of his Army skills when he gets home in a few weeks!
